European Success for Reka and Tony
By Bob Maison
European Silver for Reka
A year on from winning a Bronze Medal at the World Masters, Reka has won a silver at the European Masters in Vienna.
The year has been one of exceptional achievement, in that, in addition to the two medals, Reka also gained International selection for England in the Home Internationals, winning both matches and also secured the Hungarian Masters 035 title earlier in the season.
If you are ever at the courts or the Gym at “Stupid- o-clock” in the Morning and you can make your way past the pools of sweat then you will know all about the hard work that has gone into these successes.
Thoroughly well-deserved Rek’s
It was also a very successful Tournament for Tony Gay as well. A tough first round against a 9/16 seed in the 64-man o60 event saw Tony into another 5 rounds of matches. Playing his best squash in recent years whilst still effectively recovering from major eye and knee surgery Tony won his 33-64 final meaning that he was the best of the first-round losers. 33rd of 64 in this major master’s event is a seriously good achievement.
Well done Tony
